Fire Wave is one of the most well-know rock formations at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. One of my coworkers suggested checking it out on my trip to Las Vegas earlier this year. When we mapped out our day in the park it was slated to be the last stop on our itinerary. The mild hike wound through other rock formations and when we arrived I was actually pretty surprised that the scale of the rock formation was smaller than I thought it would be.
I might have been surprised at the scale of the formation, but I certainly wasn't disappointed. the stripes of strata are highlighted by the curved shape. Fire Wave might not be the biggest rock formation I've ever seen, but it is certainly beautiful, and one worth checking out the next time you are in Las Vegas!
