Perri came together because I wanted a small collection that would highlight this aerial photo of Chicago. I found a photo similar to the book one that I had taken a while ago, but set it up again, tweaking this and that, until it fit in perfectly. Then I went through my archives hunting down a driftwood image. I knew that I had to have at least one that would work, but kept finding ones that had too many other things going on in the photo. Then, when I was nearing the end of the photos I have from the Pacific Northwest, I found this one and it fits in exactly how I was hoping it would!
Chicago from the air is breathtaking. The ice on the lake only accentuating the icy beauty below. Little did I know way lay ahead of me. It was just after Christmas, and I was flying back to Japan, where I lived at the time. The layover in Chicago ended up being a multi day ordeal, and one I'll never forget. After a certain number of hours in an airport the novelty wears off, and after being told that you won't even be able to fly out for two days, you start appreciating that you took some pretty epic photos flying in.
So here is Perri, small in size, full of beauty. An aerial, wintry scene of the Chicago skyline, driftwood on the shores of Washington, and a collection of books to accentuate the teal tones throughout the collection.
